How politicians can affect drug policy in a climate of Prohibition

Abstract:

Green London Assembly member Zoë will talk about her work to affect drug policy and share the challenges of bringing about change, including highlighting disproportionate policing of drugs, finding allies and sometimes being a lone voice challenging the status quo.

Bio:

Zoë has worked in the public sector and NHS for over 10 years, mainly addressing health inequalities. Zoë is a London Assembly member for the Green Party, the only UK political party to advocate for legal regulation of all drugs. Since being elected, Zoë has been holding the Mayor to account by pushing for the publication of the delayed drugs commission, calling for Met officers to carry naloxone and putting forward a proposal for a drug consumption room.
